Strive, Inc.: A Legacy of Service and Impact

Strive, Inc., established in 2004, is the nonprofit counterpart of Strive Recreational Therapy. Its mission is to provide recreational therapy services to individuals without the financial means or insurance coverage to access them. The organization hosts group programs designed to enhance quality of life, including unique opportunities such as attending sporting events, concerts, and travel experiences. Through these efforts, Strive, Inc. has created inclusive spaces that foster physical, emotional, and social well-being for individuals with disabilities.

A standout achievement of Strive, Inc. is its leadership in hosting the Michigan Victory Games, a premier disabled sporting competition. Athletes with physical disabilities participate in events such as track, boccia, bowling, and powerlifting. Many competitors use this platform as a stepping stone to elite events like the Paralympics. Additionally, Strive continues to organize group recreational therapy programs for amputees and other groups in South Florida and Michigan, providing consistent support to underserved populations.

Through partnerships with corporate sponsors, in-kind donations from Strive RTS, and grant funding, the organization has supplemented individual therapy programs since its inception. By collaborating with parks and recreation departments, Strive, Inc. has not only hosted community-inclusive events but also delivered in-services on the importance of recreational therapy, further expanding its reach and impact.

Strive, Inc. also places a strong focus on the disabled veteran community, working alongside VA Hospitals to coordinate events and programs specifically tailored to their needs. This dedication to enhancing lives globally reflects the organization’s enduring commitment to inclusion, accessibility, and empowering communities through recreational therapy.
